There will be a limited number of official Patel Products™ Action Figure Kits available at Sanctum, but please feel free to use found and recycled materials. Dan Franklin is an Alabama based artist best known for her hyper realistic charcoal illustrations on recycled paper, matchbooks and wood. Working at such a small scale the artist is able to transform memorable life size scenes and objects from cinema into miniature talismans of nostalgia. It is through these pieces and the shared memories movies allow us that she hopes to make a connection with her audience.

Opening Reception

Merrilee is an artist based in Birmingham, Alabama. She will be donating a portion of proceeds from her art sales to Greater Birmingham Humane Society.

Paul Cordes Wilm is a Southern painter, born and raised in Alabama. He currently lives in Birmingham, Alabama.
Equally influenced by Andy Warhol and Mose Tolliver (an Alabama folk artist), the bright colors (a good-natured nod to the artist’s red/green colorblindness), satirical juxtapositions and sharp sense of humor all make Paul’s “Folk-Pop” artwork nearly iconic in the Magic City.

Sara Hagale is an artist who continues to exist in Huntsville, AL. Her work is the result of sitting and thinking. Sometimes the thinking is humorous, sometimes it is sad. The sitting is usually pretty good. Kamál Akeem will be Disk Jockeying.

"When I’m not focused on social problems for my graduate studies at UAB, I like to throw paint around without thinking too hard. Let's not ruin it. Watercolor adds an element of 'why did that color run there?' that keeps things interesting.

Emily Rice’s artwork focuses on the personal stories of intimate and marginalized communities. It can be viewed as whimsical and reflective, offering unique perspectives through the lenses of individuals within the south. Constantly considering the way southern communities work and grow together, Emily’s art resides in and among constructs of architectural design. The subject matter of each piece determines the materials and the narratives they provide. Often exploring ideas of relationships, anxiety, sexuality, gender identity, and race, her work examines what it is like to be a modern day southern bell.

Codey Richards' "Organ Donor" is an art show that explores the themes of vulnerability, taking chances, and the risk and reward of it all.

These themes are represented through acrylic and enamel paintings on wood, glass, vinyl, and canvas.

Codey Richards is a freelance artist residing in Birmingham, AL, with a focus on illustration, graphic design, sign painting, motion graphics and painting.
